JUST IN: We Are Kicking Them Out Of FCT – Wike Fires Message To Transporters

The Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike, announced plans to halt the operation of some transporters in the territory.

Wike announced that the transporters affected are those who operate tricycles, commonly known as Keke Napep, in specific areas of Abuja, emphasizing a concerted effort to combat criminal activities associated with the notorious “one-chance” phenomenon.

The Minister assured that the era of Keke Napep in Asokoro and Maitama would soon come to an end, with the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) introducing buses and taxis to address transportation challenges and curb criminal activities related to one-chance incidents in the FCT.

In his words, “These buses and taxis will ply all the routes in Asokoro and Maitama. We are kicking out Keke Napep at least in these areas. Some of these Keke Napep are agents of criminals.”

Highlighting the potential benefits of the new transportation system, the former Governor of Rivers State expressed, “If we have the buses, people will prefer to come from their areas and come to work and go back.”

Addressing Estate Developers and Residents’ Associations in the Federal Capital Territory, Wike urged residents to cooperate with the FCDA by fulfilling their tax obligations. Despite acknowledging the inconvenience, he emphasized, “It is painful but it’s an inconvenience that we must face.”
