Aderemi Adeoye, the Anambra State Commissioner of Police (CP), on Saturday, bowed out of service after 35 years of service and 10 months of leading the state police command.
Adeoye was appointed police commissioner in Anambra by the Police Service Commission on June 30, 2023, succeeding Echeng Echeng, who was promoted to Assistant Inspector-General of Police and redeployed to Zone 9, Umuahia.

Adeoye was born on August 19, 1966, in Abeokuta, Ogun State, and is from Modakeke, Ife-East LGA, Osun State.
He holds a Bachelor of Science (BSC) degree in Botany from Obafemi Awolowo University in Ile-Ife, Osun State, and a Master’s degree in Psychology from the University of Ibadan.
He enrolled in the Nigeria Police Force on May 1, 1989. After completing training, he worked as a patrol & guard officer, divisional crime officer, and detective at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Abeokuta and Awka.
He was the first officer commander of Anambra State Troopers, a sector commander Joint Task Force combating Boko Haram in Borno State.
Adeoye was the divisional police officer for Olu Obasanjo and Special Area Divisions in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
Between 2021 and 2022, he served as the director of operations in the Anambra State Police Command.
Before he was appointed the 33rd commissioner of Police Anambra State Police Command, he was the commissioner of police in charge of Anti-Human Trafficking at Force CID, Alagbon in Lagos.
During his service, he had the opportunity to work as the special assistant to the United Nations Commissioner and the Mission’s Crime Analyst.
He also worked for the African Union Commission in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, for five years, rising to the position of Police Coordinator.
He has received the Inspector General Police Commendation for Courage, the Joint Task Force Commander’s Commendation for Leadership, the Rotary and Lion’s Club Awards for Vocational Service, and the Commissioner of Police Award for Diligent Investigation.
During his ceremonial pull-out parade on Saturday, Adeoye revealed that he had founded a club, Alpha Trust Investment Club (ATIC) Limited, in 2018.
He said he started the club with a modest sum of N54 million, and the club currently has investments worth over N20 billion, and that as he retired, he would go into business full-time, ready to give Dangote a run for his money.
“That will be my full-time business from Wednesday, May 1 when I fully disengage. We have been investing and now we want to go into full-time business and we will in the next 10 years give Dangote a run for his money,” Adeoye said.
In February 2024, members of ATIC called on the inspector general of police, Kayode Egbetokun to investigate and act immediately on the alleged fraudulent diversion and misappropriation of over N20billion by Adeoye.
In the petition, the group accused Adeoye of operating a Ponzi scheme and misappropriating funds meant for investments in ATIC, a cooperative set up by the commissioner.
The club is fashioned in a cooperative society model and is said to be an online investment set up by Adeoye, whereby members invest money to create wealth for themselves.
Members of the club had said they made investments in the purchase of landed properties but were yet to receive allocations after five years of payment.
