Report Reveals How Gov Adeleke Blew N2 Billion On Refreshments, Others, N6 Billion On Another

A recent report has revealed how the Governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Adeleke, spent funds within a period of a few months.

According to the 3rd Quarter 2023 budget performance report from Osun State, Governor Adeleke utilized N6 billion in a span of three months for the operation of his office.

The report, available on the state government’s website, outlines the income and expenditure statements for the period between July and September 2023.

The breakdown reveals that N209 million from this expenditure was allocated to personal expenses in the governor’s office, without specifying the particular items or services covered by this substantial amount.

Prepared by the state’s Ministry of Economic Planning, Budget, and Development, the report offers insights into the state government’s spending patterns but remains silent on the revenue generated during the same quarter.

In addition to the governor’s office expenditure, the Osun State House of Assembly also incurred over N800 million in the same period.

Furthermore, the government acknowledged spending over N2 billion on refreshments, meals, and welfare packages for its officials. Specifically, N1.75 billion was allocated for welfare packages, while N456,401,074.13 was utilized for refreshments and meals. Another N400 million was designated for publicity and advertisements.

The state Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Oluomo Kolapo Alimi, clarified that the governor’s office encompasses more than seven agencies and departments, in addition to various government-wide operations and activities. He emphasized that the allocated funds cover capital, recurrent, and overhead costs for all agencies, departments, and units operating within the governor’s office.
