Prince Uche Secondus, the controversial National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has stated that the party is a child of history that belongs to Nigerians and is bigger than any individual, especially desperadoes.
Secondus said this in response to reports that he had been prohibited from acting as a member or chairman of the party by a court order.
Recall that Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State led the push for Secondus’ resignation, which was only quelled by the party’s convention being moved from December to October.
On Monday, however, reports surfaced that a judge had barred Secondus from acting as the party’s Chairman or a member.
In a statement released Tuesday morning, the man known as “Total Chair” stated that neither he nor the party were afraid of going to court. He further implied that the aforementioned injunction was false and the work of desperadoes.
In a statement by his media aide, Ike Abonyi, Secondus said: “If we are taken to court we will defend ourselves.
“It’s disheartening that the interim order of court used in removing the former Chief Justice of Nigeria, CJN, Justice Walter Onnoghen, unilaterally in January 2019, which PDP vehemently condemned, is resurrecting again from Port Harcourt.
“PDP and Secondus are not afraid of court.
“This party is a child of history, owned by Nigerians, bigger than any individual including desperadoes.”
