OPAY Agents Raise Alarm Over ‘Unauthorized’ Fund Withdrawal, Demand Urgent Intervention

Agents of OPAY have stormed the company’s office today in Lagos, protesting unauthorized emptying of their accounts with the institution.

The protesters stated that the act began about a week ago with some unauthorized withdrawals of accounts without any explanation.

According to one of the protesters who spoke with TVC reporters, he said, “unauthorized withdrawals, not permitted transfers from our machines that are having accounts that we have opened with OPAY were discovered and we came to lodge a complaint that our accounts are being accessed and money removed.

”They told us to lodge complaint and we did only to discover this weekend that huge sum of money were unscrupulously removed from our accounts.

“Some of our money were transferred to other bank accounts while some were used to purchase airtimes.”

Another protester said that she had gone to the office and police station to make a report and the company have been served an official letter yet nothing has been done.

“My own missing money is now N82,500 and my account was used to borrow loan and those staff in charge of the loan have been calling me to repay of which i never requested for any loan.

”As at 3:37am yesterday midnight, N216,000 was moved from my brother’s account to another person’s account and we’ve been here since morning to lay a complaint,” she said.

However the OPAY company is yet to make any official statement concerning the issue and its staff says it doesn’t have the power to speak with the media.
