Wike Makes New Appointments (FULL LIST)

Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has made some appointments.

Wike approved the appointments of Joseph Danfulani Narai, Luka Ayedo Nizassan, and Aliyu Yakubu Ndatsu as the Sakaruyi of Karu, Esu of Kwali, and Etsu of Yaba, respectively.

The Sakaruyi of Karu holds the position of a second-class Chief in the Abuja Municipal Area Council, the Esu of Kwali is similarly a second-class Chief in the Kwali Area Council, and the Etsu of Yaba assumes the role of a third-class Chief in the Abaji Area Council.

The appointment of the Sakaruyi of Karu took effect on April 22, 2024, while the appointments of the Esu of Kwali and Etsu of Yaba became effective on May 2, 2024.

During the presentation of appointment letters to the new Chiefs, Bitrus Lawrence Garki, the Mandate Secretary of FCT Area Council Services Secretariat, conveyed the Minister’s congratulations to the newly appointed Traditional Rulers.

Garki emphasized the significance of the occasion, highlighting it as a pivotal moment particularly for the communities of Kwali and Yaba Chiefdoms.

He underscored the FCT Administration’s commitment to realizing the “Renewed Hope Agenda” by delivering democratic dividends to the populace.

Furthermore, Garki outlined the rigorous process leading to the selection of the new Chiefs, including scrutiny, selection, voting, and traditional rites conducted by Chiefdom Kingmakers in adherence to the customs and traditions of the Traditional Council in the FCT.

He assured the newly appointed Chiefs of the FCT Administration’s collaboration to enhance the welfare of their subjects, urging them to endorse government policies and initiatives aimed at grassroots growth and development. Karu, Kwali, and Yaba are among the 17 Chiefdoms within the FCT.
