UCH delivers first IVF triplets

The University College Hospital (UCH) on Wednesday was thrown into excitement as it took delivery of first triplets In Vitro Fertilisation (IVF) carried out in the hospital.

The 45 minutes procedure for the delivery which began at about 1PM saw the mother as well as the babies – all females – in good condition by the end of the duration.

The joyous father, Dr. Kehinde Osiki who as well doubles as a lecturer at the University of Lagos was on ground to witness the delivery of the babies.

In his reaction, he noted that technology has brought about lasting solutions to problems that has always seems impossible, adding that people should start seeking scientific solutions to their problems rather than carrying the burden of superstition all around.

The triplets’ mother is an employee of the Forestry Research Institute of Nigeria (FRIN), Ibadan.

Expressing satisfaction about the delivery, Prof. Jesse Otegbayo signaled it to be another success story for this ancient hospital.

He further reaffirmed is commitment towards taking this hospital to an enviable level.

Otegbayo hailed the team that took part in the delivery.

Former CMD Prof. Abiodun Ilesanmi also praised Otegbayo for not abandoning the IVF project, which he (Ilesanmi) initiated about 13 years ago.
