REVEALED: Face Of Boko Haram, ISWAP Operational Commander Who Masterminded Killing Of Nigerian Soldiers, Civilians

Abubakar Dan-Buduma, the feared commandant of Boko Haram’s Islamic State-backed faction, the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), formerly known as Jam’at Ahl as-Sunnah lid-Da’wah wa’l-Jihd in Borno State, has been released in a photograph.

Dan-Buduma was named Operational Commander, Timbuktu Triangle by the group’s Interim Council during an emergency meeting attended by Wali (Leaders), Qa’ids (Chiefs), Commanders, and all other structures of both ISWAP and Boko Haram in July 2021, according to SaharaReporters.

During many terrorist strikes, he is believed to have murdered a large number of Nigerian military and civilians.

According to unconfirmed reports, Dan-Buduma was recently apprehended by the Nigerian Army in Borno State’s Sambisa forest.

ISWAP, which broke away from the mainstream Boko Haram in 2016, has grown into a powerful organization that focuses on military targets and high-profile attacks, including those targeting aid workers.

Following Abubakar Shekau’s death and the realignment of several groups, an interim committee led by Abbah Gana alias Ba-Lawan was named to lead the ISIS Islamic Caliphate of Africa (Wilaya of Africa), which encompassed parts of Nigeria, Chad, Niger, and Cameroon.

The Nigerian Army has consistently claimed that the insurgency has been mostly vanquished, and any losses are frequently downplayed.

The terror group has killed approximately 50,000 people and displaced millions of people, mostly in the states of Adamawa, Borno, and Yobe.
