BREAKING: Top Group Writes Against Tinubu Over Forgery, Drug Case In US
A pro-democracy group, the National Democratic Coalition (NADECO) has reportedly written a letter to the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) urging the organization to investigate allegations of forgery against Nigerian President Bola Tinubu.
The group, in the letter signed by Executive Director Lloyd Ukwu, expressed deep concern over the credibility and integrity of both Tinubu and ECOWAS due to the serious allegations. The allegations primarily revolve around certificate forgery at Chicago State University and other drug-related offenses in the United States. NADECO emphasized the importance of upholding the highest standards of integrity and credibility in ECOWAS’ leadership, essential for the organization’s success in promoting regional stability, economic cooperation, and sustainable development within West Africa.
The group called upon member states of ECOWAS to initiate a serious and thorough investigation into the allegations surrounding President Tinubu, who currently serves as the Chairman of the organization. NADECO urged ECOWAS to uphold transparency, ethical conduct, and accountability within its ranks, emphasizing that someone facing such serious allegations should not hold a position of such prominence within the regional body.
The group made a threefold request: firstly, member states should call for Tinubu’s immediate resignation if the allegations are proven true; secondly, ECOWAS should initiate a thorough investigation into the allegations, and thirdly, the organization should maintain transparency and ethical leadership standards.
