You Can Only Become President After I’ve Become One — Tinubu Tells Nigerian Youths

Bola Tinubu, the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress and former governor of Lagos State, has advised Nigerian youths that they can only become president after he does.

On Sunday, the 69-year-old lawmaker announced this during a visit to Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, the Alaafin of Oyo.

Tinubu’s planned visit to Oyo town was part of his outreach to traditional rulers across the six geopolitical areas in preparation for his presidential bid in 2023.

Speaking in Yoruba, he said, “You won’t give room for the elderly to pass and you haven’t become president. What if you become president, you will chase us out of town?”

“You will grow old, you will become president but I will become president first.”
