We Will Restore Power In Maiduguri In 30 days – Gov Zulum

Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum, the governor of Borno State, announced on Tuesday that electricity will be restored to Maiduguri within the next 30 days.

Zulum said this while presenting the state House of Assembly with the 2022 appropriation bill.

Recall that Maiduguri, the Borno State capital has been without electricity supply since the beginning of the year, causing untold hardship for the citizens.

The blackout followed the destruction of electricity transmission towers along the Maiduguri-Damaturu highway, allegedly by Boko Haram insurgents in January.

Many attempts by the government to restore the electricity supply in the past met a brick wall but Zulum said this time, the government will take measures to see to the ending of the continued darkness in the state.

Reports said the blackout has continued to affect residents, businesses as well as some government agencies whose works solely depend on power.

Public institutions in the state have spent millions of naira buying fuel for heavy-duty generators for power to conduct its affairs.
