Tinubu Reacts As Buhari’s Ex-Minister Dies

President Bola Tinubu has expressed his heartfelt condolences to the Onu family following the passing of Chief Ogbonnaya Onu, CON, who died on Thursday at the age of 72.

In a statement issued by his spokesperson, Ajuri Ngelale, the President mourned the loss of a prominent figure in Nigeria’s political landscape. Chief Onu, hailed as a luminous star, served as the first civilian governor of old Abia State, former Minister of Science, Technology, and Innovation, and played a pivotal role in the formation of the All Progressives Congress (APC). He was also instrumental in the party’s victory in the 2015 elections.

President Tinubu highlighted Chief Onu’s multifaceted contributions, describing him as an accomplished scholar, first-class engineer, and a man of unwavering integrity who upheld the highest standards of rectitude.

Emphasizing Chief Onu’s commitment to Nigeria’s unity and peace, President Tinubu commended his advocacy for national concord and fellowship across ethnic divides.

The President extended his condolences to Chief Onu’s friends, associates, the Ebonyi and Abia State Governments, and all Nigerians mourning his loss. He concluded by praying for the repose of Chief Onu’s soul.
