‘Take your greetings back, we know where you belong’ – Nigerians react as Kwara Gov. sends Easter greetings to Christians

Many Nigerians on social media have reacted to the Easter greetings sent to Christians by Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq of Kwara State.

The governor in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye, on Friday, said the government congratulated the Christian faithful on the occasion of this year’s Easter celebrations.

“I rejoice with Christians, especially in Kwara State, on the commemoration of the historic travails and ultimate triumph of Jesus Christ.

“On this occasion and always, I urge the people of our state, and Nigerians as a whole, to reflect on and emulate these time-honoured qualities of the Christ, and I appeal to citizens to join hands with our administration in the efforts to rebuild our dear state to become the regional and national reference point for human capital development and sustainable growth”, he said.

This message comes weeks after hijab crisis in Ilorin, the capital of Kwara State. The crisis has since put the two dominant religions worshippers in the country (Islam & Christainity) at loggerheads.

Some social media users have, however rejected the governor’s greetings, saying “they know where he belongs.”

A Facebook user, Ugbe Emmanuel, said, “The Governor and his associates are the caused of disunity in Kwara, let him do the needful for seek of peace.”

Another commentator, Prince Enoch said “Either you greet or not; my believe is Justice & truth WILL prevail. Just Christ reign forever. Halleluyah.”

Several other comments that have surfaced online further shows the positions of the Christian faithfuls.
