Supreme Court: APC Gov Takes Action Over Possible Loss Of His State To PDP

A Governor elected on the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, has taken an action aimed at helping him to secure victory at the Supreme Court.

The Governor who presides over the affairs of a South West State, Ogun State,Dapo Abiodun, and his cabinet members engaged in prayers on Thursday, seeking divine intervention ahead of the Supreme Court’s final judgment in the governorship election dispute.

The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate, Ladi Adebutu, had taken Abiodun to the Tribunal, contesting the outcome of the March 18 governorship election, alleging irregularities and non-compliance with the Electoral Act. The PDP can emerge victorious at the apex court if the party and its candidate can prove their case.

Despite Adebutu’s initial petition being dismissed by the tribunal and losing at the Court of Appeal, he proceeded to the Supreme Court. In a video, Abiodun and his team were seen participating in a spiritual session, praying for divine intervention and victory at the Supreme Court.

Toyin Taiwo, the deputy chief of staff to the Governor, led the prayer session, seeking God’s guidance and success for Abiodun and the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the impending judgment.

The Supreme Court, led by Justice John Okoro, has reserved judgment on the appeal filed by Adebutu and the PDP, with the date to be communicated later. The panel declined to hear cross-appeals from the APC and INEC, emphasizing their focus on the main appeal filed by Adebutu.
