Super Tucano Decimates Dozens Of ISWAP Fighters In Borno

On Sunday, Islamic State’s West Africa Province (ISWAP) fighters were decimated by a Super Tucano strike aircraft.

In a military operation in Gajiram, Borno State’s Nganzai Local Government Area, their weapons trucks were also destroyed.

When Nigerian Air Force (NAF) jets bombarded the town and a Forward Operating Base (FOB), the terrorists attempted to overrun it.

Due to the firepower, some were completely destroyed, while ground troops were able to seize advanced weapons.

Brig. Gen. Onyema Nwachukwu, a spokesman for the army, listed ten AK 47 rifles, one anti-aircraft gun, one Shilka barrel, one 60mm mortar tube, and 61 rounds of PKT rifle ammunition.

“Unfortunately, two brave troops paid the ultimate sacrifice during the battle,” Nwachukwu said in a statement.

Lt. Gen. Faruk Yahaya, the Chief of Army Staff, has encouraged forces to sustain the pace and pursue fleeing terrorists.
