Sunny Melody and His Band Set to Rock the USA: Bringing Juju Vibes Across the Atlantic

Sunday Adeola Ogunyemi, known as Sunny Melody, is a Juju musician from Nigeria, based in the UK. He’s famous as the lead vocalist and band leader of a sought-after Juju music group, taking the Juju genre to different countries worldwide.

Being in the UK, he’s adored by Africans living abroad. Sunny Melody, as he’s widely known, started his musical journey influenced by Juju music legends like Ebenezer Obey, King Sunny Ade, and Sir Shina Peters. He’s among the few Juju musicians who are keeping the genre alive.

While others experiment with different sounds, Sunny Melody remains true to the core Juju music. Even though his Juju style is modernized, the genre’s essence still shines through his music, earning him admiration both at home and abroad.

Sunny Melody became serious about music during his time at Ogun State University (now Olabisi Onabanjo University) from 1994 to 1998. He was part of the school’s music band, OSU MELODY, while studying Business Administration. After his National Youth Service in 1999, he formed his band and later traveled to the UK in 2000. He has released four albums, including “Oyato” (2003/2004), “On the Dance Floor” (2005/2006), “Pasunnyfication” (2008/2009), and “Greater Heights” (2013/2014). His music is featured on KLM inflight entertainment.

Sunny Melody has received various awards, including the City People Award in Nigeria and the Yoruba Heritage Award in the UK, for his musical contributions. He released a single in 2017 titled “Fewa,” produced by the award-winning producer “fliptyce.”

A tireless traveler of the musical circuit, Sunny Melody crisscrosses the globe on more than 20 tours annually, captivating audiences with his infectious rhythms and captivating vocals.
