BREAKING: Olubadan Seat Will Remain Vacant – Tension As Second In Command Makes Declaration

Tension mounts in Ibadan as the Olubadan-designate, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, was declared indisposed and not physically capable of assuming the role of the 43rd Olubadan of Ibadanland.

This was according to a report by The Nation. The report added that the Otun-Balogun Olubadan of Ibadanland, Abimbola Ajibola, stated this on Tuesday.

In the wake of the late Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Lekan Balogun’s passing, leaving the Olubadan stool vacant, after a reign of two years and passing away at 81, Olakulehin’s impending ascension presents a unique circumstance.

Ajibola, speaking at his private residence in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, emphasized the necessity for Olakulehin to recuperate before assuming the throne.

He expressed, “Why the rush? We have not sighted someone (Olakulehin). He hasn’t conversed with us. He hasn’t conversed with the people of Ibadan.”

Ajibola added, “I am his second in command, I’m his lieutenant. He hasn’t reached out to inform me, ‘My Otun, I am back. Therefore, relay the message to your people. When can we meet?’ They are merely pressuring him for their personal gains.”
