South African Rapper, AKA’s Fiancée Dies In Hotel Tragedy

Nellie Tembe, the fiancee of South African rapper AKA, died on Sunday at the Pepper Club Hotel in Cape Town.

Kiernan Forbes, the rapper’s real name, and Nellie got engaged in February 2021.

According to the Tembe and Forbes families, Nellie dropped from one of the hotel’s upper floors.

“It is with great sadness that we, the Tembe and Forbes families, announce the untimely death of Anele Tembe, our beloved fiancee, daughter, niece, and daughter-in-law.

“Anele, who was just 22 years old at the time, sadly died in the early hours of Sunday morning.

“We are all in shock and coping with our feelings because she was a talented young woman who was still nurturing everyone around her.

“Her boyfriend, Kiernan Forbes, is inconsolable right now and is surrounded by his family and closest friends.

The statement said, “At this hour of our sorrow, we humbly request that our families be allowed privacy and time to heal.”

Meanwhile, Captain Frederick van Wyk, a spokesman for the Western Cape police, said that inquiries into the tragic incident were still ongoing.

“The incident, which occurred at a hotel on the corner of Loop and Bloem Streets in the Cape Town CBD, is being investigated by Cape Town Central police.

“When our men arrived at the scene, the body of a 22-year-old woman was discovered dead,” Wyk said.
