BREAKING: IMPEACHMENT CRISIS: Wike, Fubara Shake Hands In Aso Rock

Governor Simi Fubara of Rivers State and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, were seen at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

Their meeting has sparked more interest amid the ongoing controversy surrounding the reported move by the Rivers House of Assembly to impeach Governor Fubara. According to The Nation, upon meeting in Aso Rock, both politicians had a good handshake, which is a form of cordial greeting. Then, they proceeded with their planned discussion.

Tensions escalated when Fubara confronted the assembly, where lawmakers loyal to Wike were allegedly planning his removal. Speaking to a gathering of youths at Government House, Port Harcourt, Fubara expressed his determination to resist any unjustified impeachment attempt against him. He challenged his political opponents to specify his offense before considering his removal.

Acknowledging the support of the Rivers State youth, Fubara stated, “We woke up this morning to very troubling news. We have gone to the Assembly to see for ourselves what has happened.” Despite facing direct threats during his journey, Fubara asserted his resolve, saying, “Whatever it is that wants to happen, let it happen.”

He emphasized his commitment to defending and representing the people of Rivers State, ensuring they receive the benefits of democracy. Fubara assured the gathered crowd, “We will continue to defend you people. We will protect you people and enjoy the dividends of democracy.”

Fubara concluded by expressing gratitude and promising a detailed press statement at the appropriate time.
