Selling Beers In Kano Illegal — Hisbah

The Kano State Hisbah Board has confiscated 8,400 bottles of beer in the Dawakin Kudu and Kura local government areas, claiming that selling beers is illegal in Kano.

Harun Ibn-Sina, the board’s Commander-General, revealed this in a speech to journalists in Kano on Tuesday.

According to the statement, “the vehicle was traveling from Zaria to Kano when hisbah officials arrested the driver,” who was transporting the bottles of beer.

“To prevent becoming intoxicated,” it continued, “Hisbah board has banned the selling of beer(s) in the state.”

The suspects will be tried in court after the board’s investigation was completed, according to the commander-general.
