JUST IN: FG Increases Workers Salaries

The Federal Government has approved a salary boost ranging between 25% and 35% for Civil Servants under the remaining six Consolidated Salary Structures.

Effective from January 1, 2024, this increase aims to enhance the financial well-being of government employees.

In a statement released by Emmanuel Njoku, Head of Press at the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission (NSIWC), it was confirmed that pensioners under the Defined Benefits Scheme will also experience a rise in their pensions, ranging from 20% to 28%. This adjustment aligns with the same six consolidated salary structures and also comes into effect from January 1, 2024.

The salary structures encompass various sectors including the Consolidated Public Service Salary Structure (CONPSS), Consolidated Research and Allied Institutions Salary Structure (CONRAISS), Consolidated Police Salary Structure (CONPOSS), Consolidated Para-military Salary Structure (CONPASS), Consolidated Intelligence Community Salary Structure (CONICCS), and Consolidated Armed Forces Salary Structure (CONAFSS).

It is worth noting that prior to this, increases had already been implemented for those in the Tertiary Education and Health Sectors. These increments affected salary structures such as the Consolidated University Academic Salary Structure (CONUASS), Consolidated Tertiary Institutions Salary Structure (CONTISS), Consolidated Polytechnics and Colleges of Education Academic Staff Salary Structure (CONPCASS), Consolidated Tertiary Educational Institutions Salary Structure (CONTEDISS), Consolidated Medical Salary Structure (CONMESS), and Consolidated Health Sector Salary Structure (CONHESS).
