Plateau Massacre: Buhari Orders Military To Kill Illegal Weapon Holders

President Muhammadu Buhari has instructed Nigerian military to subjugate culprits of the continuing massacre in Plateau.

Despite the presence of large numbers of troops in the state, scores of indigenous people have been murdered in recent weeks.

The marauders strike in broad daylight, robbing, murdering, rapping, and destroying farmland.

Riyom and Bassa Local Government Areas have been hit the hardest.

On July 31, five locals were killed and 85 buildings were set on fire at Jebbu Miango during one of the invasions.

The Army scrambled a rebuttal after some natives declared that Maj.-Gen. Ibrahim Ali, the General Officer Commanding 3 Division in Rukuba, was on a “evil mission”.

Ali, Commander of the Special Task Force, Operation Safe Haven (OPSH), was accused of executing on a “order” to wipe out the Miango chiefdom.

Following a comprehensive security report from the National Security Adviser’s office, the President approved a special operation, according to NEWS DIRECT.

General Ali gave the order on Monday while speaking to troops in the Riyom LGA’s Tangoron community.

“The Commander-in-Chief, President Muhammadu Buhari has asked us to gun down anybody seen carrying illegal weapon and we must carry out the order.

“Those people must be criminals. You have to go into the bush and clear them wherever they are hiding”, he said.

Ali also revealed that the operation will take ten days to complete.

The GOC went to some of the areas in Miango and Biyei that had been attacked by the killers.
