PHOTOS: Family Members In Court As Nnamdi Kanu’s Trial Resumes
The trial of Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), continued on Wednesday in Abuja’s Federal High Court, with his family present.
Despite the trial judge, Justice Binta Nyako, ordering the DSS to allow Mr Kanu to change his clothes before his next appearance in court, Mr Kanu appeared in court wearing his customary Fendi costume.
Mike Ozekhome, Kanu’s lawyer, complained to the judge at the start of the hearing that the DSS had refused to let Kanu change his clothes, despite a court order that he be allowed to do so.
Kanu’s younger brother has been denied entry to the DSS facility where Kanu is being held three times, according to Ozekhome.
Kanu’s eyewear was seized by the DSS after he was arrested and imprisoned, according to the lead counsel, and has yet to be given to him. He requested that his spectacles be returned to him in order for him to avoid going blind.
The complaint has been noted, according to Justice Nyako, and Ozekhome has been told to continue with the business of the day.
The court is now hearing an application challenging the legality of Nnamdi Kanu’s trial as well as the competence of the charges brought against him at the time of this report.
