Nigerian Navy De-Kits, Dismisses, Jails Officer Over Sodomization

Ukpawanne was fired after being found guilty by a force court-martial.

According to a press release from the force, the fired officer tried sodomy with a teen (name withheld) on October 27, 2022, close to Sapele Stadium, among other charges.

After the officer was paraded, his sentences were appropriately read.

The officer is accused of disobeying a standing order, which is punishable under section 57 of the AFA CAP A20 LFN 2004, and attempting sodomy, which is punishable under section 95 of the same law.

Other includes disgraceful conduct – punishable under section 93 of the AFA CAP A20 LFN 2004, and wrongful use of drug/Controlled Substance – punishable under section 65 (1) of the AFA CAP A20 LFN 2004.

The dismissed officer was awarded a one-year loss of seniority, Six (06) months imprisonment, another Six (06) months imprisonment, and lastly One (01) year imprisonment for all four offenses. Pertinently, all imprisonment sentences are to run concurrently.

He is currently awaiting medical clearance from the Naval Medical Centre before handing it over to Sapele Correctional Center for commencement of imprisonment term.
