Nigerian fighter apologises over UFC loss

Nigerian Ultimate Fighting Championship featherweight star, Sodiq Yusuff, has begged his fans for forgiveness after suffering his first UFC loss to Briton, Arnold Allen, at UFC Vegas 23 at the APEX Arena, Las Vegas on Sunday.

The fight, which was touted as a matchup of the next generation of featherweight contenders, saw the Brit come out victorious after three rounds. The victory earned him his eighth consecutive win and the record holder for the longest active UFC winning streak in the featherweight division.

The loss is Yusuff’s first since joining the UFC franchise in 2018 and his second professional Mixed Martial Arts loss in 13 fights. The loss puts an end to his six-fight winning streak.

The 27-year-old has however, promised to work harder ahead of his next fight and make them proud.

“Sorry to all my supporters, I appreciate you all and all the good energy the past year. Rough way to come back but I will keep improving and get a better result next time,” the Nigerian wrote on Instargram.
