NDLEA Operatives, Policemen Fight After Inspector’s Wife Was Arrested With Drugs At Police Station

Tension escalated as operatives from the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) clashed with Nigeria Police Force officers over the arrest of a police inspector’s wife caught with a bag of Cannabis Sativa and other illegal drugs.

The confrontation occurred on Monday around 11 am  at A Division police station in Lokoja, Kogi State,

The police inspector’s wife was reportedly apprehended while distributing marijuana from her husband’s ash Volkswagen car, parked inside the station, SaharaReporters reports. When NDLEA operatives attempted to take her away along with the vehicle, police officers opposed them, leading to a physical altercation.

Sources revealed that the situation intensified until the Assistant Commissioner of Police overseeing the division intervened, calming the situation. The woman and the car, containing bags of illicit drugs, were eventually taken to the NDLEA office in Lokoja for further investigation. Surprisingly, the woman confessed to her actions, raising questions about the identity of her customers inside a police station.

This incident is part of a series of NDLEA operations targeting individuals involved in drug-related crimes, even among law enforcement personnel. Notably, suspended Deputy Commissioner of Police, Abba Kyari, and three others are currently undergoing trial for drug offenses, with their witnesses requiring special protection due to the sensitivity of the case.
