Lekki Shootings: My Daughter Challenged Me To Tell The Truth – Sanwo-Olu’s Aide Says

Gboyega Akosile, the Chief Press Secretary to Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has followed the #LekkiLies hashtag on Twitter.

After the US Department of State said it couldn’t confirm whether #EndSARS protesters were killed at the Lekki toll gate in Lagos on October 20, 2020, the hashtag became a trend.

This was revealed in a study titled “2020 Country Reports on Human Rights Practices: Nigeria” by the US Department of State.

Many Nigerians took to Twitter shortly after the study was released to express their displeasure with the country’s damage caused by soldiers of the Nigerian Army allegedly carrying out a massacre on #EndSARS protesters at the Lekki toll gate.

The hashtag #LekkiLies was born as a result of this, with Sanwo-aide Olu’s joining in to announce an experience he had with his daughter.

He tweeted, “A trying time. An opportunity to know true friends, family, colleagues etc. My daughter stood up to me, to ask a direct question, “dad, tell me the truth! Painfully, I told her “if I lie to other ppl in the world, I won’t lie to you.” She believed me. That was enough. #LEKKILIES.”
