Kidnappers Of Taraba NLC Boss Give Condition For His Release, Make Demand

The kidnappers of Peter Jediel, the chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in Taraba state, have demanded a ransom of N11 million from his family.

Jediel was taken from his home in Sunkani, the administrative seat of the Ardo-Kola local government council, last Sunday.

His last kidnapping, according to DAILY POST, was his second in six months from the same location.

“The people that kidnapped the NLC boss have called,” a family source told our reporter over the phone. They are demanding N11 million in exchange for his release.”

According to the source, his kidnappers have also promised not to accept anything less than the ransom demanded right now.

The police, who are aware of the issue, confirmed to DAILY POST that they will not cease in their efforts to obtain the unharmed release of the union leader.

“We have not gone to bed since all these days because we have been working round to get him out of the kidnapper’s den,” a source from the command who did not want his identity published said.

Piqued by Jediel’s continued kidnapping, some labor leaders who talked with DAILY POST said it is past time for him to migrate from his hometown to Jalingo.

“Though we know that even Jalingo, our state capital is no longer safe, some of us have resolved to mount pressure on him to relocate from Sunkani to this place as soon as he regains his freedom “
