JUST IN: Yar’Adua Lands Top Post After Senate Punished Ningi

Senator Abdulaziz Musa Yar’Adua (APC – Katsina Central) was elected as the new chairman of the Northern Senators’ Forum (NSF) on Thursday, March 14, succeeding the former chairman, Senator Abdul Ningi (PDP-Bauchi Central), who resigned from his position earlier in the week following his three-month suspension by the Senate.

Ningi’s suspension stemmed from his allegations that the 2024 Appropriation Act was padded with N3.7 trillion. However, Senator Solomon Adeola, the chairman of the Senate Committee on Appropriation, clarified that the provisions mentioned by Ningi were for statutory transfers to government organs on direct line charge.

The announcement of Senator Yar’Adua’s appointment as the new chairman was conveyed through a letter from the NSF to Senate President Godswill Akpabio, which was read during the plenary session.
