JUST IN: Notorious Bandit Kingpin Terrorizing Northern States Gunned Down

A notorious bandit leader in the North West region, Dogo Gide, has reportedly been killed in a confrontation with Operation Hadarin Daji (OPHD) troops of the Nigerian Army.

The news was shared by former presidential aide, Bashir Ahmad, on his official social media handle on Wednesday morning.

Ahmad announced, “Woke up to the good news that Dogo Gide has finally kicked the bucket. The notorious bandit leader died from gunshot wounds sustained during a confrontation with Operation Hadarin Daji (OPHD) forces.”

Gide, known as one of Nigeria’s most wanted bandits, has been responsible for the kidnapping and deaths of numerous innocent villagers, causing the displacement of many in the North. His operational headquarters reportedly rotated among states in the North West, particularly Sokoto, Zamfara, Kebbi, and Katsina.

Previously, on October 30, 2023, Gide narrowly escaped capture after a fierce battle with Nigerian troops in his strongholds in Zamfara State. Despite sustaining serious gunshot injuries, he managed to evade capture during the military operation targeted at his enclaves in Dansadau, Mai Tukunya, and Babban Doka villages.

A military source involved in the operation described the encounter, stating, “He was hit in various parts of his body. Bleeding profusely, he escaped by the skin of his teeth. Apparently, he was not expecting the Nigerian Army in his fortress. But we are the formidable Nigerian Army, and we can go anywhere we want.”

During the operation, troops breached Gide’s residence, searched the house, and destroyed it. Additionally, recovered items included a tailoring factory for sewing various military and security agencies’ uniforms, Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), a mini pharmacy suspected to be used for treating wounded terrorists, as well as operational motorcycles and sewing machines, among others. These items were promptly set ablaze by the Special Forces personnel.
