JUST IN: NFF Sacks Sacks Super Eagles Technical Crew

Following the Super Eagles’ failure to qualify for the 2022 FIFA World Cup, which will be hosted by Qatar, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has fired the entire technical staff.

On Tuesday, Nigeria’s senior male football team, the Super Eagles, tied 1-1 with Ghana’s Black Stars in a match that decided who would qualify for the tournament.

After a 0-0 draw in Ghana, the Super Eagles were unable to qualify due to the away goals rule.

The Super Eagles were held to a 1-1 draw by the Ghanaian Black Stars on Tuesday at the MKO National Stadium in Abuja, with the visitors advancing on the away-goal rule.

Augustine Eguavoen, the interim chief coach, resigned earlier this week to return to his duties as Technical Director.

The Super Eagles’ technical team has been fired, according to a statement released by the NFF Secretary-General, Dr Mohammed Sanusi, on Thursday.

It reads: “The NFF has in the meantime withdrawn the two-and-half years’ contract offered the coaches and terminated the appointment of the entire technical crew of the team with immediate effect.

“A new crew will be announced after a proper review to lead the new charge of reinvigorating the Super Eagles to face future challenges appropriately.”
