JUST IN: Kidnapped PDP Chairman Released

After eleven days in captivity, Dr. Tony Azegbemi, the Edo State Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), has been released.

Azegbemi reportedly returned to his residence around 3 am. The news of his release was announced by Senator Odion Ugbesia at approximately 6:17 am. However, it remains unconfirmed whether a ransom was paid for his release.

Azegbemi was abducted on March 16, 2024, by a group of armed men just meters away from his residence in the Government Reservation Area of Benin City, the capital of Edo State.

According to reports, his abductors, traveling in two Toyota Corolla cars, intercepted his jeep along Odaro Street off Country Home road close to his house around 11 pm on Friday.
