Islamic State Terrorists Distribute Fliers In Borno, Threaten Residents Giving Information To Nigerian Military
Boko Haram’s Islamic States West African Province (ISWAP) faction has advised people of Borno State, particularly those living in communities under its control, against providing information to the Nigerian Army.
According to a report by HumAngle, the terrorists circulated the warning in leaflets distributed by members of the group in what appeared to be a market setting in Borno State.
According to photos, one of the ISWAP terrorists was spotted passing out the flier to a taxi driver.
“A message from the caliphate’s troops to the people of a new town,” reads the flier’s title.
The terrorists circulated propaganda claiming that the Nigerian Army forcibly evicted the people from their homes and that the military, not the ISWAP, was their genuine adversary.
One of the fliers stated, “We were not the ones who chased you out of your place from the beginning. These people who call themselves the Nigerian Army are the ones who chased you out, killed you, and are the wicked ones.”
ISWAP has recently resorted to propaganda in order to spread its message.
Terrorists have also offered individuals aid and money in an attempt to persuade them to live under their caliphate.
According to a recent article by SaharaReporters, Kallamu Musa Ali Dikwa, Director-General of the Nigerian Centre for Justice on Religion and Ethnicity, ISWAP members took over sections of Borno without military action.
The attackers stopped vehicles along Maiduguri- Damaturu Road at Mainok, Dikwa told SaharaReporters, and seized motorists and commuters without causing any disruption.
It was also stated that ISWAP had established mobile tribunals to monitor rebel activity and factions led by the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria.
To prolong their battle against countries in Sub-Saharan Africa, the insurgents created two Wilayas (Caliphates) at Lake Chad and Sambisa Forest.
Three years after chasing residents out of the Lake Chad area for allegedly spying for Nigerian troops, the terrorist group is claimed to have relaxed the restriction on fishing and farming activities.
It did, however, impose additional taxes and levies in ISWAP-Boko Haram-controlled areas to govern trade and agricultural activity.
The new ISWAP-Boko Haram leadership had arranged for a number of fishermen, farmers, and merchants to return to the Lake Chad area to engage in socio-economic operations.
