IPOB: Arrested ESN Members Will Be Arraigned To Court — Imo CP

According to Abutu Yaro, the Imo State Commissioner of Police, arrested members of the Eastern Security Network (ESN) associated to the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) would be charged with murder.

Suspects who were committing violent crimes against the state, according to the police chief, would not be permitted to go unpunished.

He told The PUNCH that the law is clear on the group’s operations, and that destroying public facilities and killing security personnel are acts of terrorism.

Yaro stated that his command’s legal department would begin the prosecution of Stanley Osinachi, who was apprehended last Sunday when gunmen attacked the state police command headquarters for the second time, and others who were terrorizing the state.

In three explosive fights in the state in the last six weeks, he added, security personnel had annihilated the “terrorists.”

Yaro claimed that he had dispatched his Tactical Units to the hinterlands in order to confront hoodlums who had relocated their bases to the villages.

Yaro said, “The law is very explicit on this. We will charge them for murder. Their activities are terrorism. They were unleashing violent crimes on the state until we decimated them in three explosive battles in the last six weeks.

“I have moved my Tactical Units to the hinterlands because they have relocated to the villages because of the defeats they suffered at our hands in the last three explosive battles in the last six weeks.”
