Nyesom Wike, the governor of Rivers State, has revealed that Bola Tinubu, the All Progressive Congress (APC) presidential candidate, gave him a senatorial ticket when Atiku Abubakar, the PDP’s nominee, broke his promises.
Wike claimed that he turned down the offer of the APC presidential candidate’s ticket because of loyalty to the opposition group and determination to see the PDP retake power in the nation in the 2023 elections.
In a conversation with media professionals on Friday, the governor revealed the offer he had gotten from Tinubu and claimed that if he had been more ambitious, he would have defected to the ruling party.
According to him, he contested the presidential primaries because he wanted to be the candidate and that is why he didn’t buy a senatorial form.
“I didn’t contest so I can become a vice presidential candidate, I am not like others who were not serious and bought senatorial form alongside presidential form and that’s why when Tinubu offered me senate slot, I didn’t go for it”
