Hushpuppi: Police Commission Sets Up Fresh Panel To Study FBI Evidence Against Abba Kyari

The Nigeria Police Service Commission has announced the formation of an internal panel to investigate the documented evidence supplied by the FBI against suspended Deputy Commissioner of Police Abba Kyari.

According to the Daily Trust, the new panel is led by the director of the commission’s Department of Police Discipline, Barrister Tijani Mohammed.

According to the news outlet, the panel was inaugurated on Thursday by the commission’s Secretary, Abubakar Ismaila.

The new investigation panel follows one established by Inspector General of Police Usman Baba to look into Mr Kyari’s indictment by the FBI for computer fraud together with his now-arrested ally Raymon “Hushpuppi” Abbas.

Despite the controversy surrounding its report, the IGP panel headed by DIG Joseph Egbunike in command of the Force Intelligence Bureau has yet to publicly announce its conclusions.

Several alleged transgressions against Mr Kyari had been published by NewsDirect, including the N8 million payment he reportedly took from Hushpuppi to put a co-fraudster in jail.

Kyari, the suspended deputy police commissioner, has disputed the charge, claiming that he was a debt collector.

Details will be released soon…
