Gunmen Kidnap Journalist In Adamawa

A female news editor with a radio house in the Adamawa State capital, Yola, has fallen victim to suspected kidnappers.

Mrs Amrah Ahmed, a nursing mother and news editor of Adamawa Broadcasting Corporation (ABC), Yola, was abducted in the early hours of Tuesday.

The armed invaders stormed the journalist’s home in Mbamba, a suburb of Yola Town in Yola South local government area and whisked her away but left her six-month-old baby untouched.

A source said the assailants targeted the lady’s husband, a senior staff of a highbrow Federal establishment, and actually asked of him but went away with the lady when they did not find the man.

Someone close to the family informed the husband, who has two houses, was in the other house when the gunmen visited the Mbamba residence.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, DSP Suleiman Nguroje, confirmed the incident.

Ngoroje said Commissioner of Police, Adamu Aliyu, had ordered the deployment of officers to rescue the victim.

Nguroje assured that the journalist would be rescued and the kidnappers apprehended.
