Group Solicits Relief Materials For Flood Victims in N’Delta Region

Niger Delta Network (NDN), a civil society group, has urged the ministry of Niger Delta Affairs and the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) to provide relief materials for flood victims in the Niger Delta region.

The group made the call in a communiqué issued at the end of an enlarged meeting held at Minna Guest House, old Gra, port harcourt, rivers state on sunday, october 23, 2022.

“We call on MNDA and NDDC, a Federal interventionist agency, to make available relief materials for the flood victims in the region. They should set up proper camps for internally displaced persons,” the communiqué read in part.

The group further charged major stakeholders in the region to give the Niger Delta Ministry and the NDDC the need support and cooperation in order to be able to execute President Muhammadu Buhari’s vision for the region.

While disclosing that the group was currently on a tour of projects undertaken by the ministry and NDDC, they urged parties responsible for the projects to complete them before the end of the current administration.

“We urge critical stakeholders in the region to give the MNDA and NDDC maximum support and cooperation towards speedy actualization of Mr. President’s vision for the region.

“As part of our responsibility to the development of the region, we are currently on tour of projects undertaken by both MNDA and NDDC. From our findings so far, there are projects which could be completed within the time frame of the Mohammadu Buhari’s administration,” they said.

The group thanked President Buhari for his “determination to develop the Niger Delta Region and urge him to constitute without further delay a substantive board of the NDDC in accordance with its enabling Act.”
