FG Declares October 1 Public Holiday

Nigeria’s government has designated October 1st a national holiday to commemorate the country’s 61st anniversary of independence.

Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, the Minister of Interior, made the announcement while congratulating Nigerians on their 61st independence.

In a statement issued by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Shuaib Belgore, Aregbesola reassured Nigerians that the administration is committed to addressing and resolving all types of challenges and concerns.

Part of the statement read: “Our warmth, welcoming spirit and love as well as the abundant wealth inherent in our human capital and the richness of our land, makes Nigeria unarguably the leading black nation in the world and Africa’s pride and beacon of hope, if we can rally ourselves together to harness our potentials.

“A nation of about 200 million and above people whose natural talent, grit and passion glitter like the precious DIAMOND that we are.

“Nigerians are sparkling like diamonds in Academia, Business, Innovation, Music, Movie, Entertainment, Fashion and culture.”

Nigeria, according to the minister, is the world’s leading black nation and, without a question, Africa’s pride and light of hope.
