Everyone Has A Price – Nigerians React to Fela Durotoye’s Appointment As Tinubu’s SSA

The appointment, announced by the special adviser to the president on media and publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, has continued to stir reactions from Netizens.

Nigerians have taken to social media to react to the appointment of the 2019 presidential candidate of Alliance of New Nigeria Party (ANN), Fela Durotoye, as Senior Special Assistant on National Values and Social Justice to President Bola Tinubu.

Recall that the appointment of Durotoye and four others to serve in the media & publicity directorate in the president’s office was announced on Monday by the special adviser to the president on media and publicity, Ajuri Ngelale.

Many Netizens condemned the development, saying it was a downgrade for Durotoye, who was a former presidential candidate to be appointed as SSA.

Reacting to the development on X, a user @ wrote, Adeola_oriade1 wrote, “I’m really disappointed. Such a downgrade for him. He has lost all respect I had for him. To think I carried his campaign for head in 2019. Shame!”

Another user, @AlabiEyiWunmie tweeted, “I am almost crying seeing this. What happened to Fela? I joined his party, joined his campaign, rallied for him, and even donated.. indeed everyone has a price @feladurotoye what happened to all your dreams? 😪.”

“I remember travelling from Damaturu, Yobe State to Jos to vote for this man in 2015! Thank God the election was postponed, but I will leave to regret taking that risk and paying the tp!!!

It’s a shame!! I feel disgusted at myself for believing in this man!!!” @SassyJ_ opined.

@The_Blissfully wrote, “If Fela Durotoye accepts this appointment, I’ll be very disappointed! I’ll forever see him as a sell out!.”

“Former Presidential aspirant reduce to SSA to the President. Its shameful! We can’t accept that.” @Gideonfidi noted.

@EbitimiEEG wrote, “Fela Durotoye just proved why Nigeria is in the gutters. From presidential candidate to a common errand boy? Not even a ministerial position and he accepted it? Probably even lobbied for it. Well, I am glad he has showed his hands.”

On the other hand, some netizens await Fela Durotoye to confirm the acceptance of the appointment.

“Nothing prepared me for this Fela Durotoye news. I’ve been looking forward to him working with Peter Obi again in a similar capacity like this current appointment. However, I’m willing to wait and see if he will go ahead with it or it’s still a social media fuss, Moses Olalowo@SPlowo noted.
