Enugu equips youths with digital skills

The Enugu SME Center and the Enugu State Government, under the leadership of the Executive Governor, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, has launched a new initiative designed to empower the youths in Enugu state with skills to secure their future.

The new initiative, called the Enugu Youth Empowerment Scheme “e-YES”, will equip youths in Enugu State with digital skills in the areas of Website Development, Social Media Marketing, Mobile Advertising, Email Marketing, Content Marketing, Search Engine Optimization, Search Marketing (Pay Per Click) and many more.

This innovative programme is a partnership between the Enugu State government through the Human Capital Development Loan Programme [HCDLP] of the Enugu SME Centre (led by Hon. Arinze Chilo-Offiah) and Wild Fusion Digital Centre.

Ranked as the first and most premium digital marketing training institute in Nigeria, Wild Fusion Digital Centre was established in 2014 in partnership with the Digital Marketing Institute of Ireland. With a long standing reputation for its training expertise, the Wild Fusion Digital Centre has trained over 4,000 Nigerians interested in the tech/digital space.

These professionals are all gainfully employed and some of them have gone on to lead marketing teams across various corporate organizations locally and internationally. The institute is happy to leverage on its expertise garnered over the years in supporting the Enugu government to actualize its goal on youth empowerment.

In today’s digital-first world, e-YES will make it possible for thousands of youths that will be trained to help transform Enugu State into a truly digitised economy. According to Hon. Arinze Chilo-Offiah, who is also the Special Adviser to the governor on SME Development, “Technology will continue to drive change in the workplace, and for one to be a game-changer, one must be able to use technology to solve everyday problems. With this initiative, the Enugu SME Centre is giving the youth an edge, starting now.”

The training programme which is scheduled to last for 6 weeks, officially started on Monday, the 28th of September and will end on the 6th of November 2020 at the prestigious Universal Hotel, Independence Layout, Enugu State. Upon completion of the training, participants will be placed into jobs, and within 6-10 months, are obligated to pay back the cost of the training, as this is an interest-free loan programme. This way, they can contribute to the economic development of Enugu State and Nigeria as a whole. All trainees will be awarded certifications from Google, Facebook, Twitter and other internationally recognised institutions.

e-YES is growing to be another testament to Governor Ugwuanyi’s commitment towards helping people and businesses in Enugu State thrive.
