Drama As Naira Marley, Sam Larry Drag Magistrate To Court, Reveal What They Want

Singer Azeez Fashola, popularly known as Naira Marley, and his associate Samson Eletu, also known as Sam Larry, have taken legal action to challenge their prolonged detention in connection with the death of fellow singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, alias Mohbad.

In a fundamental rights suit filed before the Federal High Court in Lagos, Naira Marley and Sam Larry are demanding N20 million each in damages from the police and Lagos magistrate, Adeola Olatunbosun, citing their continued detention in police custody as the basis for the lawsuit.

The magistrate had ordered the remand of Naira Marley and Sam Larry in police custody for 21 days following the death of 27-year-old Mohbad in September.

Naira Marley and Sam Larry, through their counsel Olalekan Ojo (SAN), are urging the court to declare their continued detention at the Homicide Section of the Lagos State Police Command a violation of their rights since October 4, 2023.

They argue that the magistrate’s remand order was only for 21 days, which has already elapsed. They seek “an order of the court releasing the applicants forthwith.”
