Don’t Take Law Into Your Hands, Plateau CP Tells Youths Over Killings

Plateau State Commissioner of Police, Edward Egbuka, has warned youths in the state to refrain from committing crimes and taking the law into their own hands.

The Commissioner issued the warning in a statement made available to The PUNCH in Jos, Plateau State’s capital, on Thursday.

Six Fulani herders were killed early last week in Chol Village, Vwang district, Jos South LGA, while three cows were rustled in Tajol Village, Riyom LGA, according to the Commissioner.

He mentioned that two people from Kum Village were slain by suspected herders two days after the incident, which provoked community outrage.

The Commissioner, who condemned the killings, said he had “ordered homicide detectives and other Police Operatives in the Command to go all out to capture perpetrators of recent terrible crimes of culpable homicide and mischief in the State’s Riyom and Jos South LGAs.”

“Operatives of the Command were immediately deployed to tighten security in the affected areas.

“Investigations are ongoing and anyone arrested in connection with these dastardly acts will face the full wrath of the law.

“The Command is advising community leaders to warn their youth to desist from crime and taking law into their hands but to assist Police with vital information that will aid investigations.”
