CJN To Quiz Six Chief Judges Over Conflicting Ex Parte Orders

The Chief Justice of Nigeria and Chairman of the National Judicial Council (CJN), Hon. Dr. Justice Ibrahim Tanko Muhammad, is set to question the judiciary in seven states on Monday over conflicting court orders.

The CJN has already ordered the records of all the cases in which inconsistent ex parte orders were issued.

Chief judges from Rivers, Kebbi, Cross Rivers, Anambra, Jigawa, and Imo states would be questioned on the disputed conflicting orders issued in their respective states.

According to reports, the Chief Judge of the Delta State High Court has also been called to meet with the CJN on Monday alongside the other six chief judges.

According to the DAILY POST, the extraordinary step is intended to refocus the Tanko leadership’s anti-corruption efforts and establish a new culture of accountability in the judicial system.

In the coming days, Justice Ibrahim Tanko Muhammad is expected to meet with the leadership of the Nigerian Bar Association to discuss the subject.
