Buhari, Osinbajo Present As APC Holds NEC Meeting To Discuss 2023 Election Schedule

The All Progressives Congress (APC) holds its national executive committee (NEC) meeting in the federal capital territory, with President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo in attendance (FCT).

The gathering will take place at the Transcorp Hotels.

The NEC meeting is the first since the party’s convention on March 26 when a new national working committee (NWC) was elected.

Senate President Ahmad Lawan, Speaker of the House of Representatives Femi Gbajabiamila, and Chairman of the Nigeria Governors Forum Kayode Fayemi are among those in attendance (NGF).

Last week, APC spokesperson Felix Morka said the meeting would discuss the party’s primaries timetable ahead of the 2023 elections, as well as other matters.

“Pursuant to Article 25.2.ii of the Constitution of the All Progressives Congress (APC), the National Working Committee (NWC) hereby invites members of the National Executive Committee (NEC) of our great Party to a meeting to consider the Party’s Timetable/Schedule of Activities for Primaries for the nomination of candidates for the 2023 General Elections and other relevant business of the Party,” the statement reads.

“All members of the NEC are by this invitation to take notice of the meeting in accordance with Article 12.3 of the APC constitution, please.”

The date of the party’s presidential primary poll is expected to be fixed at the meeting.
