BREAKING: Tinubu Threatens To Sack His Ministers, Gives Reason
President Bola Tinubu issued a stern warning to his cabinet members, threatening to dismiss any minister who fails to fulfill their ministry’s specific mandate as his administration gets down to the business of governance.
Tinubu delivered this ultimatum during the opening of the 2023 Cabinet Retreat for Ministers, Presidential Aides, Permanent Secretaries, and Top Government Functionaries at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Addressing the attendees on the theme “Delivering on the Renewed Hope Agenda,” Tinubu acknowledged the challenges ahead but emphasized the need for decisive decisions and action plans from all stakeholders to overcome these problems.
The President highlighted his acceptance of challenges and responsibilities since assuming office and stressed the administration’s commitment to fulfilling the citizens’ yearnings and aspirations. He emphasized the absence of room for excuses and emphasized his careful selection of competent individuals for his cabinet.
Tinubu revealed his directive to the Special Adviser on Policy Coordination, Bala Hadiza, to oversee the Result and Delivery Unit, responsible for monitoring key performance indicators of all ministerial appointees. He announced that ministers would sign a bond of understanding at the end of the retreat, ensuring accountability for their performance.
He stated firmly, “If you are performing, nothing to fear. If you miss the objectives, we review. If you have no performance, you leave us. No one is an island because the buck stops on my desk.”
Tinubu outlined the administration’s key priorities, urging cabinet members to focus on food security, poverty eradication, economic growth, job creation, access to capital, inclusivity, security, fairness, rule of law, and anti-corruption measures.
