BREAKING: Tension As El-Rufai’s Replacement Slumps During Screening

There was tension in the Senate as El-Rufai’s replacement, Blarabe Abbas, slumped during screening.

Abbas, a nominee for a ministerial position, collapsed during his screening session in the Nigerian Senate. Abbas had been reading his profile before the incident occurred, prompting the Senate to enter a closed session.

Earlier, it was reported that upon the Senate’s resumption of plenary, they commenced the screening of three new ministerial candidates nominated by President Bola Tinubu. The nominees included Balarabe Abbas Lawal from Kaduna State, Dr. Jamila Bio Ibrahim from Kwara State, and Ayodele Olawande from Ondo State.

The Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, had read a letter from President Tinubu on Tuesday, requesting the confirmation of these additional ministerial nominees.

Abbas was nominated to replace the former Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, who had not been screened and cleared by the Senate due to security reasons.
