BREAKING: 3 Dowen College Students Arrested Over Oromoni’s Death

Three students from Dowen College, Lekki Lagos, have been arrested by the Lagos Police Command for their suspected involvement in the death of Sylvester Oromoni junior, a 12-year-old student at the college.

Hakeem Odumosu, the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, made the announcement on Tuesday.

According to a Channels Television report, Odumosi stated that three of the five students mentioned by Sylvester before his death are already in custody and collaborating with authorities in their investigation.

Despite the fact that Odumosu did not reveal the names of those detained, he emphasized that they are major suspects.

The command is preparing to conduct a post mortem on the body in Delta state to determine the cause of death, according to the police chief.

He stated that the conclusion of the probe into Sylvester’s death will pique the interest of police officials in both Lagos and Delta State.

Meanwhile, the Oromoni family has retained the services of Femi Falana, a prominent human rights lawyer and activist, to fight their lawsuit against the institution for their son’s death.

The letter addressed by Falana to the office of Lagos State’s Chief Coroner, demanding an investigation into the circumstances leading to the death of his client’s kid, was obtained by Channels Television on Monday.

The letter, dated December 6, 2021, was signed by Taiwo Olawale and submitted to the High Court of Lagos State’s chief coroner.

Last week, Sylvester’s 12-year-old story became viral after a family member took to social media to demand justice. Sylvester was allegedly assaulted by some senior Dowen College students, according to a family member who goes by the name @Perrisonoromoni on Twitter. Sylvester died as a result of severe internal ailments sustained as a result of being tortured and bullied, according to him.

Oromoni jr was also seen writhing in anguish in a video posted online by a family member. His teeth were stained with blood and were a dark red color. His legs were swollen, and he had a bloated stomach.

Dowen College management said in a statement that Sylvester was wounded while playing football. They also stated that they will help with authorities in the investigation of the incident.

The Lagos State government’s Ministry of Education conducted an investigation at the college and declared on Friday that it would be closed indefinitely.
