Bandits Kidnap 50, Kill 2 In Kaduna

Bandits attacked Ungwan Gimbiya Community of Sabo in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State early Friday, abducting over 50 people and killing two.

A local told the DAILY POST that the bandits visited a total of 13 families, abducting a considerable number of people.

According to the source, the onslaught lasted around two hours and included strong gunshots to scare people away.

He went on to say that the kidnapping of the victims is the worst in the area since the beginning of banditry in Kaduna.

Rev. John Joseph Hayab, the Kaduna State Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), verified the kidnapping to DAILY POST, stating that a pastor from the affected village called him and told him about it.

According to Rev. Hayab, the security situation is out of hand, and no one is safe regardless of where they are. He advises people to pray and be cautious in everything they do.

When contacted about the event, the state Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Mohammed Jalige, offered to call back once he had further information, but he had not done so at the time of reporting this report.
