BREAKING: Appeal Court Nullifies Prophet Sotitobire’s Life Sentence Over Missing One-Year-Old Boy, Acquits Preacher In Ondo

The Court of Appeal in Akure, the capital of Ondo State, has overturned the State High Court’s sentence of Prophet Sotitobire, the founder of the Sotitobire Praising Chapel.

Prophet Sotitobire, also known as Prophet Babatunde Alfa, is the founder and director of the Sotitobire Miracle Church in Akure, Ondo State.

Sotitobire was sentenced to life in prison by an Ondo State High Court in 2019 for the abduction of a one-year-old boy, Gold Kolawole, from his church.

The founder of Sotitobire had sought the Appeal Court to overturn the lower court’s decision.

The Appellate Court determined on Friday that the circumstantial evidence on which the high court based its decision was insufficient to convict him.

As a result, he was released and acquitted.

On behalf of the other judges, Justice Gamma Barka read the verdict.

On Thursday, the Court of Appeal announced that it would rule on the matter today (Friday).

Sotitobire had requested a review of his case by the Court of Appeal following the lower court’s life sentence decision on June 6, 2020.

Sotitobire’s kidnapping trial began in February 2020, and he and six other defendants were found guilty of the allegations.

In November 2019, the cleric and six members of his church were found to be involved in the abduction of Gold in his church.
